Heating in Ascot

What we see in Ascot homes

Ascot is characterised by large detached houses, a good number of them on substantial plots, and that changes what a heating system has to do. The question is rarely whether a boiler can heat the house. It is whether the hot water supply can keep up with the way the house is actually used.

Several bathrooms drawing at once will find the limit of a combi quickly, and a family home with an en suite or two puts that to the test most mornings. An unvented cylinder sized to the property is usually the honest answer, rather than fitting a larger combi and hoping it stretches far enough.

The other thing large houses expose is distance. A tap or shower a long way from the cylinder can run for a noticeable stretch before the water arrives hot, which wastes both water and patience twice a day. A secondary return loop keeps hot water moving around the circuit so it is there when the tap opens, and on a house of that size it is usually a better answer than accepting the wait.

Ascot is within the area we cover. We always come back to you about work here, and we are flexible for customers we already look after.

FAQs

Common questions from Ascot homeowners

Do you cover Ascot and the surrounding villages?

Yes. Ascot, Sunninghill, North Ascot and the area around them are all within our service area. If you are not certain whether you are covered, ask rather than assuming.

Our hot water runs out when more than one shower is on. What fixes that?

Usually a properly sized unvented cylinder rather than a bigger combi. A combi heats water on demand, so it has a ceiling on how much it can deliver at once no matter how powerful it is. A cylinder stores it, which is what lets two or three outlets run together. The right size depends on the number of bathrooms and how the household actually uses them, which is what the survey establishes.

Why does the hot water take so long to reach our en suite?

Because the water sitting in the pipe between the cylinder and that tap has gone cold, and all of it has to be drawn off before hot water arrives. The further the tap is from the cylinder, the longer the wait. On a larger house the usual fix is a secondary return, which keeps hot water circulating so it is available at the tap almost immediately.

Do you carry out servicing and repairs as well as installation?

Yes. We diagnose the actual fault rather than swapping parts until something changes, and we will tell you honestly if a boiler is worth repairing or has reached the end of its life. An annual service is also what keeps most manufacturer warranties valid.
